Top Kill Fail
What is this? I can tell that it is the failure to prevent, the failure to stop, and then further more the failure to not take full responsibility. British Petroleum has created a method called "Top Kill," which in simple words is the plan to blast open a pipe and plug it with a submarine. Brilliant? Not really...
They say that they are "moving onto other strategies," really? Of course, they have to change the plan. I think we can all unanimously say, "you screwed up BP." The actions and thoughts put into trying to stop the enormous and increasing flow of harmful oil was totally lame (sorry for such a crude word). They keep making excuses such as, "that its mostly natural oil in the ocean," but that is not killing the animals. Please help me spread the word lets kick BP and make the get to work!!!

NY-Fortunate Fail Bombing Attempt
![]() |
| Security Footage in Times Square |
This weekend, in Times Square, a vendor saw a smoking Nissan Pathfinder. That vendor called the police, and as soon as they were the scene, they found a bomb capable of creating a huge fireball inside of the car. Fortunately they were able to disable this fertilizer-propane bomb before it was set off and no one was hurt.
A theory, I have heard is that the Nissan Pathfinder, Car bomb, was indented to frighten Viacom, the owners of Comedy Central and South Park. The reason being is that Parker and Stone had recently featured a picture of Muhammad in a bear costume. They had received a grave amount of threats, and this is not the first time we have seen this sort of violence stem from issues related to depicting Muhammad. In fact, a similar bomb had been planted in London due to aversions of having Muhammad depicted. This evidence make us believe that since the bomb was near the Viacom's offices that the terrorist had planned for the destruction of Viacom property.
One thing that I do not understand is the emotions behind these extremist. Everyone get angry sometimes, but to go and kill people is a ridiculous idea. Even if these terrorist are claiming this is Jihad movement, it is ludicrous and in fact has no base. A jihad is a literally a struggle, but is widely interpreted as a social reform movement such as MLK or Gandhi. A jihad is not a holy war and has nothing to do with violence.
Of course we do not know for sure if it was actually intended for Parker and Stone. The owner of the actual car was also investigated by the FBI and was released because they do not consider him a person of interest. We hopefully will because the supposed culprit, who was videotaped taking of his shirt was caught, arrested, and held for questioning. It is unclear if he is the perpetrator. Mr. Kelly, the New York City Police Commissioner, said in an interview Monday morning with WCBS Radio that, “They’ve got the top laboratory in the world to do these sorts of examinations, and we’ll keep some samples here," so hopefully this will be solved swiftly and the villain will be put to justice.
Another point that makes this a game changer is that unlike other countries we have been fortunate enough not to be plagued with car bombs. After all a lot of Middle Eastern countries and Israel find the thought of a car bomb very mundane not to say that we have not had our fair share of violence.

Oil Spill- Disaster
At the Gulf of Mexico, BP America owned oil barrels leaked into the Gulf causing outrageous amounts of disaster. This horrendous incident was caused by the sinking of a BP oil rig, which caused an underwater oil gusher. The consequence of the this disastrous event are the deaths and harm of precious wildlife. The oil company, BP, has put inadequate resources to help fix this mess. In fact, company's official had said earlier that it was possible last week to stop the oil before it reached the land. They have clearly fail to a accomplish this and the amount of oil spilling out is only more likely to go up. “It is clear that after several unsuccessful attempts to secure the source of the leak, it is time for BP to supplement their current mobilization as the slick of oil moves towards the shore,” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in response to BP's laziness. Geoffrey S. Morrell, deputy assistant secretary of defense, announce in a statement that BP would be held accountable for the cost of the department’s deployment. I think that this should have been quickly cleaned by the officials at BP, and I am very disappointed at the lack of responsibility shown by the company. The BP representatives then try to blame the governments slow response to the situation. While this is true, the company had actually deemed the leek minor and said that clean it would be easy. There is in fact a law that was passed a year after a similar incident in 1989 caused dubbed the Exxon Valdez disaster which holds the owner of a rig or vessel responsible for cleaning up a spill.

Greece- Hope Or None At All
Here is a short clip from CNN on the big debt problem in Greece. Of course if the country of Greece fails then all of the world will be facing more issues than just the recession. The confidence to loan and spend has to go up before they can reach total recovery. The thing with big countries like Greece is they can get loans cheaply from smaller less powerful countries because their currency holds more strength. The reason their currency is stronger is because the market assumes that a big country such as Greece will do well. When it does not the consequences are enormous. The currency fails and the debt becomes a bigger problem then it was. For big countries like the U.S. a huge deficit is usually not a bad thing because it has many advantages including economic growth. The deficit in Greece does not yield the same type of fruits because it does not hold the same strength in their currency anymore. I hope for their swift recovery because not only is important to them but if their economy fails the repercussions will be great on the U.S. and in Europe.

Arizona - Battle Zone Between Immigrants And Arizonians
Joe Arpaio is the Arizona sheriff of Maricopa County. He is currently raging a war against all immigrants. He is hard-talking and very controversial Arizona sheriff, but to me, he is a just an ignorant right winger. As soon as a new law allowing police officers to demand for proof of legal residency went into effect, the sheriff went on raids to arrest a total amount of 89 people. 73 people were undocumented, but at the same time 16 of them were our own, innocent American citizens. This man went around the state of Arizona targeting Latinos for petite crimes just to ask for their identification and proof of legal residency, and in fact, there is one case in which he arrested a Latino man for a cracked windshield. I do not know about you, but this just seems like he is abusing this new law. I do not support the illegal immigrants, especially if they are apart of the drug cartels, but this law is simply ludicrous. You cannot expect people to be carrying around their passports and birth certificates, while they might be doing mundane tasks such as shopping. Arizona lawmakers defend this bill saying that the federal government has failed to keep out more than 450,000 illegal immigrants, and therefore it is their job to clean the streets. I say that this law will only allow for people like Sheriff Joe to excuse their racial profiling. Allowing people like him to do this will only lead to more laws with unconstitutional back bones.
The Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer recently signed a controversial bill that instates changes to a new state migration law that she says should ease concerns about racial profiling. She is quoted saying, "These changes specifically answer legal questions raised by some who expressed fears that the original law would somehow allow or lead to racial profiling," and after the signing she said, "These new amendments make it crystal clear and undeniable that racial profiling is illegal and will not be tolerated in Arizona."
Political opponent Dan Pochoda said that law enforcement officers -- under strong pressure to find and remove illegal immigrants -- could still identify people by race and then look for a minor infraction as an excuse to investigate them. Obviously, I agree with this statement because it hold a lot of truth. No matter how clear this law is, it cannot stop racial profiling.
The new amendment requires for immigrant to carry alien registration documents at all times. If a normal American does not have to neither should they. On the other hand the new law forces police to have detained the suspected illegal on other charges before being able to ask for proof of legal residence. Although a big change, my only comment is that it is not big enough.
While being here illegal is not fine, I do not find this law effective enough to stop illegals. My belief is that the conflicts in Mexico are too big for us to ignore. The economic problems, drug problems, and political corruption going on in the southern borders of our neighbors has caused the people of Mexico to flee to our country. I believe that we have ignored those problems too long, and the only way we can decrease the number of illegals is through a well thought out plan to help our southern allies reach a stable state, economically, politically, and even in the state of the hopes of the Native Mexicans.
